A simple brief for a new carport & ancillary storage to a unique waterfront site within the Royal National Park is re-imagined as a sculptural aperture, creating a strong sense of arrival to the site & framing views from the public domain. The raw materials are softened with the green roof which invites native flora & fauna to directly engage with the architecture.

A modest scale pavilion is inserted to the rear of the existing dwelling with the new works designed to draw in natural light through the internal courtyard & raised rear roof & highlight glazing, contrasting the existing dark dwelling.

The new Outdoor Living area references the surrounding bushland with finely detailed Spotted Gum beams & columns tied into the surrounding custom, built-in timber seating.

A small project for a detached yoga studio in the beach side suburb of Cronulla, south of Sydney.
The brief called for a functional separate space to the existing dwelling house that would be used as a yoga studio and guest house, all on a tight budget. The small studio utilities an efficient yet minimal footprint and cost effective materials, reminiscent of local beach side shacks.

The new works contained holey within the existing building footprint, reflect the growing family’s needs with better functionality of spaces & greater access to natural light. The contemporary, coastal palette creates a type of oasis in contrast to the surrounding industrial setting of Sydney’s Inner West.

The new works create an open plan kitchen, living & dining arrangement through a new pavilion with improved access to natural light & a stronger connection to the rear yard & open space.
